HOOVER — Spain Park High School students, parents and fans will have an opportunity to show their support at the inaugural Spain Park Spirit Day Aug. 11.

The event will be from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Veterans Park, which is located directly in front of the school on Valleydale Road.

Event organizer Alyssa Hare said the event is intended to celebrate the Spain Park community.

“It is going to be a jam-packed day of fun,” Hare said. “It will help us gear up for the upcoming school year and sports seasons. Everyone will be decked out in their Spain Park gear.”

Hare said the event is free to get in, and will also feature free food, drinks and prizes for families and attendees of all ages.

Activities will include an obstacle course and face painting. There will be free Spain Park novelty items such as cups, T-shirts and footballs available, and attendees will be able to purchase merchandise from Spain Park athletic and academic organizations.

Also, organizers have 10 Sloss Fright Furnace tickets to give away to attendees. Sloss Fright Furnace is the haunted house at Sloss Furnaces in downtown Birmingham during the month of October.

The event is sponsored by Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, Sloss Fright Furnace, RPM-Hoover, The Tutor Doctor, Encore Sports Medicine, Nationwide Insurance, Dippin’ Dots, Kona Ice and Domino’s Pizza.
