WILSONVILLE – Adaptive Aquatics is looking for the community’s help in winning a Toyota Tundra July 27.

The nonprofit was selected as one of 500 finalists in Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good program, an initiative in which Toyota is giving 100 cars to 100 nonprofits over 100 days.

The program began in mid-May, and Adaptive Aquatics is one of two Shelby County nonprofits selected. The other, K9 Special Services of Alabama, was hoping to win a Toyota Highlander on July 23.

Each day, five finalists compete at 100carsforgood.com for their choice vehicles. Runners up receive $1,000 cash grant from Toyota.

“Everyone at Adaptive Aquatics is thrilled to have been selected as a finalist for the 2012 100 Cars for Good program,” said Adaptive Aquatics Executive Director Joe Ray in a press release. “We’re grateful for this incredible opportunity to showcase providing WaterSports to disabled children, disabled adults and wounded warrior veterans, and hopefully win a car to help us increase our impact in the disabled community across the state of Alabama.”

Currently, Ray uses his personal vehicle to transport the nonprofit’s equipment, which can include a boat, jet ski and trailer, along with water skiing equipment. Ray said he typically takes multiple trips to transport the equipment for programs across the state.
