CALERA – Calera City Councilman Ed Gentry said many of his mayoral campaign signs were missing on the morning of July 31.

Gentry, who is running for Calera mayor, said the signs were missing after the heavy rains on July 30-31.

“Every sign was down after the rain,” Gentry said, noting some of the signs were screwed into wooden 2-by-4 posts.

Gentry said he had campaign signs by Waterford Subdivision, at the intersection of Alabama 70 and U.S. 31, Metro Mini Storage, the Calera Shell Station and other locations.

“The only signs let up are in people’s yards,” he said.

Calera police Lt. Chuck Holcomb said the department filed a report about the missing signs, and that Gentry has been the only candidate to call about missing campaign signs.
