Helena concert featuring country music and candidates

Helena voters will have a chance to meet the city’s mayoral candidates while enjoying country music during an Aug. 18 concert at Papa Saia’s off Shelby County 261.

The event will be held from 6-10 p.m. at the restaurant, which is near the Buck Creek Dam in Old Town Helena. The concert will feature country music artist Mark Collie, who has had 16 singles, such as “Born to Love You” and “Even the Man in the Moon is Cryin,’” light up the Billboard Hot Country Charts.

Collie has written songs for several artists, including George Jones, Tim McGraw and Garth Brooks, and has appeared in movies such as “The Punisher” and “Fire Down Below.”

During the free concert, Collie will perform songs from his newly released album “Alive at Brushy Mountain.”

During the event, Helena mayoral candidates Greg Eddins, Mark Hall, incumbent Mayor Sonny Penhale and Ed Scheirer will be on hand to discuss their plans for the city before Helena’s upcoming Aug. 28 election.
