Lions defeat Tuscaloosa Academy in area match

The Kingwood Christian School volleyball team defeated Tuscaloosa Academy 25-16, 25-14, 23-25, 25-23 in an Alabama Independent Schools Association Class 2A, Region 2 — Area 2 match Aug. 16.

Madelyn Pearce led the Lions (3-2 overall, 1-0 in AISA Class 2A, Region 2) with 12 kills in the victory.

Katie Allen Etheridge added eight kills and four service aces. Hannah Suell and Hannah Spinks, who registered a team-high six digs, finished with six service aces.

Blair Holsombeck compiled three service aces to go along with her team-high 24 assists.

Kingwood Christian defeated Hooper Academy 23-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-18 in its season-opening match Aug. 13.

Pearce led the Lions with 10 kills in the victory. Pearce also chipped in three digs.

Sloane Pickett added four kills to go along with four service aces. Kendall Jonseof finished with a team-high seven digs.

Holsombeck contributed a team-high 12 assists.
