Essie Mae Brownlee, age 89, of Montevallo, passed away Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012 in Alabaster.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Ada Eloff; and husband of 45 years, John M. Brownlee.

Essie is survived by her daughters, Bertha Nix (Eddie, deceased) and Earlene Burke (Ralph, deceased); sons, Ralph Holsomback (Gloria) and Charles Brownlee; brother, Billy Joe Eloff; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and her dog, Sassy.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Rockco Funeral Home Montevallo. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Montevallo First Baptist Church with Dr. Terry Sutton and Bro. Todd Burr officiating. She will lie-in-state one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Montevallo Cemetery.
