Anna “Hazel” Pate Allen of Alabaster, born July 30, 1920, passed away August 20, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Allen; mother and father, Florence and Revis Pate; sisters, Clara Strickland, Bernice Vernon and Evelyn Hudson. Left to cherish her memory is sister, Lois Churchwell, Panama City, Fla.; niece and caregiver, Anita Davenport (Lloyd) of Alabaster; and numerous nieces and nephews. She never had any children of her own, but dearly loved all children, especially her nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Montevallo High School at the age of 16. She was a secretary at Cummings Truck Line for 27 years and also worked at Line Fast Corporation. Mrs. Allen was a member of Spring Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church being active in the C.P.W.M., contributing to the Children’s Ministry and attending regularly until her health declined. She loved reading (especially history), gardening, quilting and bird watching.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. on Friday, August 24, at Spring Creek C. P. Church, 3411 Spring Creek Road, Montevallo, AL 35115, with her funeral service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 25 at the church with Dr. Scott Fowler officiating. She will lie-in-state one hour prior to her service, burial to follow in the Spring Creek Cemetery.
