Calera falls in region opener

Calera would take an early 7-6 lead over Dora, but Dora would run off 21 straight points on their way to a 39-21 region victory over the visiting Eagles.

After Dora jumped out to an early 6-0 lead, Calera would take their only lead of the game when Ronnie Clark would score from two yards out and Stephen Ellison’ s PAT would give Calera a 7-6 lead.

Dora would then run off 21 unanswered points to take a 27-7 half-time lead.

Calera would close the gap to 27-14 when Zac Reneau would find Jacob Danley from two yards out.  Ellison would once again add the PAT for the Eagles.

Dora would continue pounding the ball as they would score twice more to take a 39-14 lead.

Sam Adams would close out the scoring on the night on a two-yard run and Ellison would add on the PAT as Calera would fall by a final score of 39-21.

Zac Reneau would lead the Calera passing attack as he completed 10 of 17 passes for 100 yards and a touchdown.

Sam Adams would lead the rushing attack with 38 yards on 8 carries and a touchdown.  Reneau would add 38 yards, and Clark would chip in with 27 yards and a touchdown.

Clark would lead all receivers with 4 catches for 38 yards and Jordan Bishop hauled in 3 passes for 29 yards.

On the night, Calera would collect 197 rushing yards and 100 passing yards for 297 yards on the night.  Dora would dominate the ground game as they amassed 465 rushing yards on 56 attempts and added 17 passing yards for a total of 482 yards.

The loss drops Calera to 1-1 on the season and 0-1 in region play.
