Montevallo women’s soccer moves up in recent NSCAA region rankings

KANSAS CITY, Kansas – The University of Montevallo women’s soccer team moved up three spots in the most recent National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s NCAA Division II Southeast Region rankings, which were released Sept. 18.

The Falcons jumped up to No. 7 in the region rankings following  a 1-0 win over previously undefeated UNC Pembroke in their Peach Belt Conference opener Sept. 15.

Montevallo (4-1-1) debuted at No. 6 in the Southeast Region poll Sept. 4 before dropping to No. 10 in the Sept. 11 poll.

Montevallo junior goalkeeper Kaitlin Thomas is currently near the top of the list among her peers in the Peach Belt Conference. Thomas is tied for fourth in the conference with 30 total saves through the Falcons’ first six matches.

The Falcons return to action Sept. 21 with a 3 p.m. contest on the road at Belt Conference foe Armstrong Atlantic State University. Montevallo returns home quickly for a non-conference match Sept. 23 at 1 p.m. against Valdosta State University at Varsity Field.
