AUGUSTA, Ga. – University of Montevallo senior Haley Evans has been named the Peach Belt Conference Runner of the Week after capturing the individual title in the Falcons’ 6K race Sept. 22.

Evans, who won the Falcon Classic with her time of 23:30, is the second member of the Montevallo women’s cross country team to earn conference Runner of the Week honors this season. The Falcons have captured the weekly honor in three of four weeks during the season with fellow senior Kaley Glover winning the award back-to-back during the first two weeks of the season.

Evans, a native of Fairhope, Ala., has been named a Peach Belt Conference Runner of the Week at least once in three of her four seasons at Montevallo. Evans helped the Falcons to a third-place finish in team standings at the Falcon Classic.

The defending Peach Belt Conference individual champion owns the fastest 6K time in the conference this season. Evans will run the exact same course again Oct. 20 in the 2012 Peach Belt Conference Championship race.

Evans and her teammates return to action Oct. 6 at the Disney World Cross Country Classic in Orlando, Fla.
