Oak Mountain finishes 3-2 at OTM tourney

The Oak Mountain High School volleyball team went 3-2 and advanced to gold bracket play in the Over the Mountain Tournament hosted by Hoover High School this weekend.

The Eagles (16-3) opened the tournament on Friday with a win over St. Paul (25-17, 17-25, 15-10). Emily Cosgrove led the way for Oak Mountain with 12 kills with Hannah Beach finishing with 14 assists. Hannah Kowal led the Eagles’ defense with seven digs along with six kills.

Oak Mountain finished the day with a win over Spanish Fort (25-13, 25-7). Cosgrove led the way for the Eagles with seven kills with Kowal adding five kills and five aces. Madison Pierce had four blocks.

The Eagles suffered their second defeat of the season to start play on Saturday against Metarie Park Country Day (LA) by a score of 24-26, 16-25. Cosgrove had 10 kills and eight digs in the loss with Kowal adding nine kills. Beach led with 11 assists.

Oak Mountain bounced back in their next game with a 25-18, 25-17 win over Albertville in a cross-over game to conclude pool-play. Cosgrove had 11 kills for the Eagles with Beach finishing with a team-high 16 assists and six kills.

The Eagles were eliminated from gold bracket play by Guntersville, 17-25, 24-26, for their second loss of the tournament and third defeat of the season. Cosgrove led Oak Mountain with nine kills in the match with Kowal adding six kills. Beach finished with 19 assists and three aces.
