Falcons move up in NSCAA region rankings

KANSAS CITY, Kansas – The University of Montevallo men’s soccer team moved up two spots in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Division II Southeast Region rankings.

The Falcons are ranked No. 5 in the poll, which was released Sept. 25. Montevallo moved up from No. 7 in the poll following a 4-0 win over Francis Marion University in a Peach Belt Conference contest Sept. 22 at Varsity Field. Montevallo made its debut in the NSCAA Southeast Region poll this season with a No. 7 ranking last week.

Sophomore forward Pierre Omanga, who scored two goals in the victory, is currently tied with two other players for the leading goal scorer in the Peach Belt Conference this season with seven goals.

Junior goalkeeper Brendan Ledgeway, who posted his fourth shutout of the season against the Patriots, is currently second among goalkeepers in the Peach Belt Conference with a .882 save percentage and a 0.33 goals against average. Ledgeway owns a 4-1 record and has allowed just two goals this season.

The Falcons (5-2 overall, 2-0 in Peach Belt Conference) return to action Sept. 26 with a match on the road at Peach Belt Conference foe Clayton State University.
