MONTEVALLO – University of Montevallo seniors Haley Evans and Kaley Glover already had their names etched into the school record book entering the 2012 season.

The pair of student-athletes have added a few more references to their names through the first three races of the season.

Glover, who has already been named the Peach Belt Conference Runner of the Week twice this year, etched her name in the No. 2 spot in the school record book for the fastest 5K time by a Montevallo student-athlete. Glover, an Opelika native, ran a time of 19:09.5 in the Fleet Feet Classic 5K race Sept. 8 at UAH, which left her just more than 15 seconds shy of the school record time set by Evans at the Royal Cross Country Challenge last season.

Glover’s time of 19:29.2 at the season-opening Early Bird Classic 5K race Aug. 31 is currently the seventh fastest time in school history.

Meanwhile, both Glover and Evans added another spot on the list of the fastest 8K times in school history at the Falcon Classic race Sept. 22.

Evans, a Fairhope native who was named the Peach Belt Conference Runner of the Week, won the race with a time of 23:20.7, which placed her fifth overall on the list of fastest 8K times in school history. Glover’s time of 23:38.3 in the race placed her sixth overall on the list one spot behind Evans.

Both runners are chasing Evans’ school record time of 22:28.9 in an 8K race, which she posted at the NCAA Southeast Region meet last season.

The Falcons return to action Oct. 6 with a trip to Orlando, Fla. for the Disney World Cross Country Classic. Montevallo, which entered the season as the Peach Belt Conference favorite in a poll among head coaches, will host the conference championship race two weeks later on Oct. 20.
