Chelsea sweeps four-team meet

The Chelsea High School boys’ and girls’ cross country teams swept the team standings in the Hornet Invite meet on Sept. 27.

The Hornets scored 30 points to win team title over second-place Indian Springs with 42 points. The Lady Hornets edged out the Indian Springs girls’ team 26-30 in the girls’ team standings.

David Simpson of Chelsea and Hill Balliet of Indian Springs battled for first in the boys’ race and finished tied for the individual championship. Both runners ran a 20:04:00.

Majd Habash (Indian Springs), Josh Hutchins (Chelsea) and Caleb Crowe (Calera) rounded out the top-5 finishers.

Cheyenne Thompson won the girls’ race to lead Chelsea to the girls’ team title with a time of 22:03:00. Kaitlyn Coley (Chelsea), Alice Marson (Indian Springs), Jesse Hook (Indian Springs) and Paula Simonetti (Indian Springs) rounded out the top-5 finishers.
