DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The University of Montevallo men’s soccer team battled to a 1-1 tie with the University of North Georgia in a Peach Belt Conference match Oct. 6.

North Georgia took a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute of the match following a goal by Tyler Daly off a one-touch assist by Jesy Phelps on a feed from Amin El-Shami.

The Falcons (6-3-1 overall, 3-1-1 in Peach Belt Conference) picked up their aggressiveness in the second half and finally netted the equalizer in the 82nd minute of the contest. Freshman midfielder Roussin Nkoy headed in a cross from senior forward Shane Howard to tie the match at 1-1 in the final minutes.

The Falcons had several chances to score the game-winning goal in overtime, but a shot by junior midfielder Ricky Davey bounced off the crossbar and a shot seconds later by junior forward Jackson Tolleson missed the bottom left corner of the net by just a few feet in the first overtime session.

Montevallo junior goalkeeper Brendan Ledgeway posted two saves in the match.

The Falcons, who are ranked No. 7 in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Division II Southeast Region poll, return to action Oct. 6 when they host Peach Belt Conference leader and nationally ranked Flagler College in a conference match at 7:30 p.m. at Varsity Field.
