Westminster teams find success at Jesse Owens Invitational

On a cold, rain-soaked course, The Westminster School at Oak Mountain Knights (1A) took several top spots in the Jesse Owens Classic Cross Country Invitational Oct. 6. Over 200 teams and over 4,000 runners from AL, MS, TN & KY participated in the event.

In the boy’s jr. high 2.1-mile race, the Knights took 2nd place, led by strong finishes by Scott Landers (6th); Jacob Carrell (19th); Will Green (23rd); and Clay Smith (28th). In the boy’s varsity 5k, the Knights finished 4th place, with Logan Richburg (15th), Carter Lemons (18th) and Noah Thompson (21st) all taking spots in the top-25.

The jr. high girls finished 5th in their 2.1-mile event, with over 427 runners participating in the race. Camilla Lemons (1st), Maddie Hoaglund (6th) and Sara Kate Lipperd (25th) contributed with top-25 finishes. In the varsity girls 5k race, Morgan Reynolds finished 22nd.
