Shelby County falls to Talladega, 41-12

TALLADEGA-Shelby County (1-6)lost to Talladega High School 41-12 on Oct. 12 at Talladega.

“We got down early and could never really get back in the game,” Shelby County coach Brent Smith said.

Ty Proctor had a 15-yard touchdown run and Marterius McGregor added a 3-yard touchdown run for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats were led by Jamarius Mayfield with 111 yards on 14 attempts. McGregor had 69 yards on nine attempts, while also having 63 yards on five catches.   Proctor was 10-of-19 passing for 126 yards. Freshman receiver Andrew Schauer added 52 yards on two receptions.

“We did not play real well,” Smith said.  “We just made too many mistakes early on.”

It does not get any easier for Shelby County as 6-1 Homewood comes into town next week.
