AIKEN, S.C. – The University of Montevallo men’s soccer team battled through a test of endurance in its second double-overtime match in two days in a 1-1 draw with Mount Olive College in a non-conference match Oct. 14 in Aiken, S.C.

One day after a 1-0 double-overtime victory over USC Aiken in a Peach Belt Conference match, the Falcons couldn’t manage to net the game-winner in the two additional overtime periods against Mount Olive.

Mount Olive took an early 1-0 lead when Kelly Keaton fired a shot into the lower left corner of the net off an assist from Alex Rodriguez in the 10th minute of the contest.

The Falcons (9-3-2) netted the equalizer in the 31st minute of the match when senior Shane Howard blasted a rebound attempt past the Mount Olive goalkeeper off a shot attempt by junior Ryuhei Nose.

Montevallo junior goalkeeper Brendan Ledgeway finished with  two saves in the match.

The Falcons have a week-long break before taking on Concordia College of Selma in their final non-conference match of the season Oct. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Varsity Field.
