Dear Editor,

I work for Shelby County Schools at Valley Elementary in Pelham, running LEAPS, a family literacy program.

I wanted to thank the newspaper for the great weekly articles on different themes. The 30 Hispanic adult students are expected to read the material every week, create a portfolio and present it in class.

It is an excellent free resource to create reading habits among parents and encourage them to use it at home with the children.

We appreciate your focus on the community and making the paper available to every resident in the area.
