Pelham sweeps Enterprise at super regionals

MONTGOMERY – The Pelham Lady Panthers advanced to the second round of the Class 6A Super Regional tournament with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 28-26) victory over Enterprise in Montgomery on Oct. 26.

“It was a tight match,” said Pelham head coach Perry Robinson. “(Enterprise) had a very effective block that gave us trouble.”

Autumn Wild Hiett led Pelham with 11 kills, five digs and 2 aces. Caitland Smith added nine kills with four blocks while Bradleigh Smith had eight kills, two aces and a block. Emily Jackson had six kills and a team-high 20 assists in the win.

Pelham will play in the second round of the tournament against county rival Thompson at noon on Saturday, Oct. 27 for a chance to play in the Elite Eight tournament in Birmingham Oct. 31.

Thompson swept Daphne in their first round match-up on Friday.
