MONTEVALLO – Montevallo’s holiday festivities begin with a full schedule of activities Nov. 15, including an ArtWalk, Christmas parade and Santa visits.

The ArtWalk will begin at 3 p.m. with food and Christmas craft vendors lining up with local artists to sell wares on Main Street and nearby areas.

Attendees can also enjoy the sounds of Montevallo’s Community Band and Montevallo High and Montevallo Middle choirs on the corner of Middle Street and Main Street.

Montevallo First United Methodist Church, which is located at 861 Middle Street, is hosting its annual Soup Supper from 5-7 p.m. For $6 per person, attendees can enjoy home-cooked vegetable soup, salad, bread, dessert and a beverage.

The parade, featuring the MHS Marching Troubadours, floats by organizations and churches, horses and more, will begin at 6 p.m. down Main Street. Radio personality “Dollar Bill” Lawson will announce the parade, as well as the float winners for best overall, most creative, most Christmas spirit and best theme.

“Following the parade, Santa Claus will make his way to our fellowship hall and church,” said Dr. Terry Sutton, pastor of Montevallo First Baptist Church, which is located at 660 Main Street.

One of the church’s photographers will be available to photograph parade attendees with Santa and Mrs. Claus. The photographs will be free.

“Of course, we’re planning on having some hot chocolate and cider as the people wait for the pictures to be developed,” Sutton said.

The MHS and MMS choirs will hold a Christmas concert at First Baptist after the parade, as well. The church will also have nativity scenes on display.

“There are all kinds, all shapes and sizes (of nativity scenes), to remind us of the true meaning of Christmas,” Sutton said.
