AUBURN – The Oak Mountain Eagles head to take on the Auburn Tigers in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs on Nov. 9.

The Eagles are hoping to have a better result than they did last week, when they fell to Clay-Chalkville, 36-25.

The Tigers only blemish is a 46-20 loss to Carver-Montgomery on Oct. 5.

The Eagles are averaging 21.3 points per game and giving up 20.2 points per game. Auburn averages 39.7 points per game while the Tigers defense, led by Auburn-commit Reuben Foster, is giving up 17.8 points per game.

Auburn is led by three-year starting quarterback Cameron Echols-Luper, a Texas A&M commit, who is 24-5 for the Tigers, and Foster, who totaled 13 tackles for the Tigers in his last game against rival Opelika. Both Echols-Luper and Foster were held out of last weeks’ game against East Limestone.

The Eagles are led by senior Jake Adams who in the last three games has 255 yards rushing and five touchdowns.

This will be just the third playoff appearance ever for Oak Mountain while this will be the 16th appearance for Auburn. Auburn has an overall first round record of 6-9 and the Tigers have lost their previous two first round games in 2010 and 2011.

The Eagles have yet to lose a first round game beating Greenville in 2001 and John Carroll in 2005.

This will be the third meeting between the teams.  Auburn won the first meeting in 2000, 58-21 and Oak Mountain won the second meeting in 2001, 21-20.

Auburn is 12-2 at home the past three seasons, but only 8-8 all-time in the playoffs.  Oak Mountain is 3-2 on the road this year.
