The Coosa Valley girls basketball team opened the season with a 53-51 victory over Kingwood Christian Nov. 15.

Coosa Valley (1-0) trailed by 11 in the third quarter, but rallied back by outscoring Kingwood 14-10 in the fourth to secure the two-point win.

Coosa Valley’s Danielle Richardson led all scorers with 25 points and 10 steals while Kaylan Rich added 22 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks.

Casey Whitmer led Kingwood with 16 points and seven boards while Katie Allen Etheridge finished with 14 points.
