Montevallo volleyball pair named All-Conference

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Two members of the University of Montevallo volleyball team were named to the Peach Belt Conference All-Conference teams, which were released Nov. 16 during a banquet at the conference tournament in St. Augustine, Fla.

Junior Manyi Ati was named first team All-Peach Belt Conference, while sophomore Michelle Walker was tabbed second team All-Peach Belt Conference.

Ati, a Lawrenceville, Ga. native, was named first team All-Peach Belt Conference for the third consecutive season.

Ati led the Falcons with a .319 hitting percentage this season, which ranked third in the Peach Belt Conference, while racking up 284 kills. Ati was also second in the conference with 71 solo blocks. Ati finished with 173 total blocks, which ranked seventh in the conference.

Ati surpassed 1,000 career kills with a kill in the Falcons’ final Peach Belt Conference match during the regular season.

Walker, a Houston, Texas native, led Montevallo with 350 kills, which placed her seventh among leaders in the Peach Belt Conference. Walker’s average of 3.15 kills per set led the team and ranked her fifth among conference hitters.

Walker ranked fifth in the conference with 3.5 points per set and seventh in the conference with 387.5 total points.

Ati and Walker helped the Falcons win eight of their final 12 matches during the regular season. Montevallo ended its season with a 3-1 loss to Augusta State University in a Peach Belt Conference tournament quarterfinal match Nov. 16.
