The Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors approved the organization’s business plan for the 2013 program year at its Nov. 14 regular meeting.

As a result of the Chamber’s recent Shelby One initiative, the organization is looking to expand its scope of programs and activities in several areas: Business support and development, community and workforce development and governmental relations.

“We’re thrilled with the response we’ve received from the Shelby County business community regarding these new initiatives, and look forward to beginning our expanded programs in 2013,” Chamber Chairman David Nolen said. “What’s more, these new programs – in collaboration with a number of our community partners – will enable us to provide an even stronger return on investment for our members and the county as a whole. The board is looking forward to a productive 2013.”

The Chamber is also launching several work groups that will meet on a monthly basis on the projects and activities established through the 2013 plan.

These work groups include existing business and industry, small business, governmental affairs, education, community improvement and health services. The Chamber’s Ambassadors group will continue its activities as well.

“This business plan – a direct result of the five year strategic plan by the Shelby One leadership – will ensure that our chamber is working to nurture business, address business needs and continue to develop a business environment that is attractive and stable,” Chamber President and Chief Executive Officer Kirk Mancer said. “My fellow staff colleagues and I are anxious to get to work on this business plan, and encourage any Shelby County business that wants to get involved with any of these work groups to contact us.”
