Arthur D. Davis, age 86, of Calera, passed away at Shelby Baptist Medical Center on Nov. 25, 2012. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Nov. 28 at Bolton Funeral Home, Columbiana, with Rev. Terry Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Nov. 27 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Davis was a World War II veteran. He graduated from Shelby County High School after serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a long-time member of Calera First United Methodist Church. He served Calera as a city council member for six terms and was mayor for one term.

Mr. Davis started his career in printing at the Shelby County Democrat (now known as the Shelby County Reporter) and retired from Cather Publishing Company. He was past president of Calera Civitan Club and lifetime member of Calera Masonic Lodge #445.

Mr. Davis is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Kate Seale Davis; parents, Elbert Lewis and Carrie Joiner Davis; brothers, Cecil, Alton, George, Robert, Fred and Waylon; sister, Jewel Davis Glenn; and a granddaughter, Laurie Ann Cox.

He is survived by his daughter, Katie Cox; grandson, John Cox (Dee Ann); great-grandchildren, John B. Cox III and Elizabeth Cox; as well as many dear nieces, nephews and friends, including the ones at the Calera Senior Center.
