Lady Rebels surge past Lady Wildcats, 48-30

ELMORE- Danielle Richardson and Kaylan Rich each recorded a double-double to lead the Coosa Valley Lady Rebels to a 48-30 win over Edgewood Academy Lady Wildcats at Edgewood on Nov. 28.  The win improved the Rebels record to 3-1 on the year while the Wildcats fell to 0-2.

Richardson finished with 28 points and 12 steals while Rich added 16 points and 14 rebounds.

The Lady Rebels’ defense held Edgewood scoreless in the first quarter, to take a 6-0 lead into the second quarter.

In the second quarter, the  Lady Rebels’ offense stepped up scoring 17 points, extending their lead to a 25-6 halftime lead.

Edgewood outscored Coosa Valley in the third quarter 10-9, closing the gap to 34-16.

The Lady Rebels’ offense bounced back to outscore the Lady Wildcats 16-12, in the final quarter.

With three girls held out of the game due to sickness, sophomore Payton Stephens and seventh grader Emily Tatum played significant minutes.

“They really stepped up and played well,” Coosa Valley coach Kimbo Rutledge said.
