KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of Montevallo junior goalkeeper Brendan Ledgeway was selected 2012 Daktronics NCAA Division II All-America honorable mention following the release of the organization’s All-American teams Nov. 29.

Ledgeway is one of five goalkeepers nationally to earn Daktronics NCAA Division II All-America recognition, which is voted on by members of CoSIDA, the College Sports Information Directors of America.

The York, England native capped a spectacular junior season by being named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year. Ledgeway was also named first team All-Peach Belt Conference and first team Daktronics NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region following the season.

Ledgeway finished his junior season with a 0.65 goals against average, which led the Peach Belt Conference and ranked ninth nationally among NCAA Division II goalkeepers. Ledgeway’s 0.65 goals against average is the second-lowest average posted in a single season in the Montevallo men’s soccer program’s history.

Ledgeway also led the conference with 10 shutouts, which left him one shy of equaling his school record 11 shutouts during the 2011 season. Ledgeway helped the Falcons post a 0.55 shutout percentage, which ranked No. 8 nationally in NCAA Division II.

Ledgeway allowed just 13 goals, the third fewest allowed in a single season in school history, in more than 1,800 minutes played. Ledgeway’s junior season included a 403-minute streak without allowing a goal, which is the fourth longest streak in school history.

Ledgeway finished second in the Peach Belt Conference with a .817 save percentage, which also ranked him No. 20 nationally among NCAA Division II goalkeepers.

Ledgeway helped the Falcons (13-5-2) capture their second Peach Belt Conference tournament championship in three seasons. Ledgeway also helped Montevallo achieve its third consecutive NCAA Division II tournament appearance.

Ledgeway’s name now appears at the top of several categories in the Montevallo school record book.

Ledgeway owns the most career wins with 40 victories with one season of eligibility remaining. Ledeway also owns a program-leading 30 career shutouts.

Lynn University (Fla.) senior Matt DiCerbo was named the Daktronics NCAA Division II All-America first team goalkeeper. UC-San Diego junior Josh Cohen was named the second team goalkeeper, while Rockhurst University (Mo.) junior Ryan Bass was named the third team goalkeeper.

Goalkeeper Marco Jorgensen of Long Island-Post University (N.Y.) was also named honorable mention.
