CALERA – The Thompson Lady Warriors overcame a slow start to cruise to a 56-28 victory over Calera Nov. 30.

“The past few days we have been focusing on the little things and worrying about us and not everybody else and I thought we did that tonight,” said Thompson head coach Cara Crosslin.

Thompson took a 5-0 lead midway through the first quarter on their way to a 8-5 lead into the second.

The Lady Warriors turned Calera turnovers into points and pulled away with a 11-2 run to take a 20-7 lead midway through the quarter.

After taking a 27-15 halftime lead, Thompson exploded for 23 points in the third, including a 15-2 run, for a 50-23 lead into the fourth quarter.

“We are still trying to find the chemistry with who plays better with (each other),” said Crosslin. “That’s coming along and that’s why you play these games anyway.”

Janese Richardson scored a game-high 23 points for the Lady Warriors. Kat Cingoranelli added 12 points for Thompson.

Tyesha Hayes led Calera with 19 points while Perri Duncan scored 10 points for the Lady Eagles.
