Chester “Check” Carlee

Chester “Check” Carlee, age 100 and 1/2 years, of Alabaster, went home to be with the Lord and his friends and family that are there waiting for him, on Nov. 30, 2012, at his home. Chester was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nora Bell; and daughter, Pearl C. Farris.

He was lovingly cared for by his daughter, Nellie. She and her husband, Gene, took very special care of him.

He is survived by his daughter, Nellie Pickett (Gene); grandchildren, Ronald Pickett (Donna), Lynette Kramer (Jim), Lisa McDaniel (Jason) and Stacy Roberts (Jay); great-grandchildren, Kevin Pickett, Amanda and Andrew Kramer, and Lily and Gray Roberts.

Chester, who was also known as “Papa Check,” always loved to farm and was very generous to others at harvest time. He also loved to dance and did so at every opportunity throughout his long life. He enjoyed being around his many friends and family.

The family would like to thank Dr. Donald Kwong and the other members of his office and the Southeast Hospice Network for their kindness and special care they provided to Check.

Visitation was held Dec. 2 from 2-4 p.m. at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel Montevallo.

A graveside service for the family will be held Dec. 3 at Montevallo Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Draper officiating.
