Ruth Harris

Alabaster

Ruth Harris of Alabaster passed away on Dec. 8, 2012, at the age of 77.

She was a lifelong resident of the Camp Branch/Saginaw area and member of Camp Branch United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Thompson High School where she was a band member, Miss Thompson High School and vice president of the 1953 senior class. Ruth attended Florence State Teachers College where she graduated in 1955 with a secretarial science degree. She taught piano for a number of years at home and at Shelby Academy.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James Harris; son, Travis Harris; daughter, Lee Harris Fogle; three grandchildren, Anna Ruth, Zachary Allen and Madison Lee Fogle; brother, Jimmy Naish; and nephew, Chris Naish.

The family will receive friends on Dec. 12 from 1-2 p.m. at Camp Branch United Methodist Church. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bill Phares officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
