CALERA – Gunshots were fired from a residence on Pilgreen Drive in Calera Dec. 20.

At about 8:45 a.m., two Hispanic males entered the residence of a Hispanic family with a 9-year-old and 4-month-old child. The intruders held the man in the house at gunpoint and stole jewelry and a “small amount of cash,” Calera Police Chief Sean Lemley said.

The intruders then fled on foot, Lemley said.

“The victim came out behind them, and they were already a ways away. He discharged a firearm at least three times, but didn’t strike anybody. There were no injuries,” Lemley said.

According to Lemley, the robbery is still under investigation.

“It was an isolated incident, and we don’t have any concerns for the general public,” he said.
