Kingwood shuts down Sparta Academy

The Kingwood Christian Lions held Sparta Academy to just eight points in the second half to take a 72-33 win at the Marty Thrash Tournament held at Crenshaw Christian.

The Lions battled back to tie the game 25-25 at the half before erupting for 35 points in the third quarter for the win.

Josh Purvis and Silas Edwards each scored 25 points to lead Kingwood. Titus Adams added 24 points and 10 rebounds while Andrew Whitfield scored 22 points.

Daniel Fillingham finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds in the win.

Kingwood began the tournament with a 74-63 victory over Crenshaw Christian.

Purvis led the Lions with 27 points with Edwards and Adams each adding 25 points. Fillingham scored 21 points with four other Kingwood players scoring in the double-digits.
