Fanny T. Hinds, age 97, of Birmingham, died Dec. 26, 2012, at Meadowbrook Extended Care.

Visitation will be held at Vincent First United Methodist Church on Dec. 29 from noon-1 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. John Limbaugh, Rev. Wayne Lowe, Rev. Betsy King and Rev. Leroy Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in Vincent Cemetery.

She is survived by sons, John Lamar Hinds (JoAnn) of Vincent and Joe Michael Hinds (Corinne) of Birmingham; daughters, Holley Hinds and Kathleen Hinds; sister, Joy Limbaugh of Childersburg; grandchildren, Lee Ann Hinds of Jacksonville, Leslie Tyler (Kenny) of Alabaster and Laura Duncan (Craig) of Montgomery; and great-grandchildren, Cameron Tyler, Ashton Tyler, John Logan Anderson, Myers Duncan and Hinds Duncan.

She was a teacher for the Shelby County Board of Education for 40 years and taught adult basic education in Vincent for 37 years. She was an active member of Vincent United Methodist Church and also an active member of the Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of AEA, NEA and SCEA; Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Alpha Nu Chapter; Vincent Library Board, written up in Southern Living Magazine in September 2001; Birmingham News, Talladega Daily Home and Shelby County Reporter; was always interested in local, county, state and national politics; and enjoyed working with and helping children in school.

She is preceded in death by husband, John Jordan Hinds Jr.; siblings, Nadine Pope, James Thompson, Ollie Limbaugh, Johnny Thompson, Joe Thompson, Helen Ruth Thompson and Billye Whitlock.

Pallbearers will include Nick Limbaugh, Joe Limbaugh, Bennett Limbaugh, Scott Thompson, Sonny Thompson, Austin Hinds, Craig Pearce and Doug Hinds.
