HOOVER – The Spain Park Jaguars went on a late run to tie Ramsay in the fourth quarter, but the Rams held on for a 44-40 victory in the 2013 Bellini’s Jaguar Classic Jan. 3.

Jonathon Toups and Deion Wright led the Jags on a 12-2 rally to tie the game 38-38 with just over a minute to play in the fourth quarter.

Spain Park started the game on a 6-0 run to take a 6-4 edge after the first quarter. Ramsay answered in the second and held the Jags to just four points from the free throw line to tie the game 10-10 at the half.

The third quarter saw three ties before the Rams pulled away on an 8-2 run to take a 24-18 lead with over two minutes to go in the third. Spain Park outscored Ramsay 7-3 down the stretch in the third to pull within two, 27-25, headed into the fourth.

Toups led Spain Park with 14 points while Wright added 12 points for the Jags.

Spain Park will take on Hewitt-Trussville in the final day of the Jaguar Classic at 4:30 p.m.
