INDIAN SPRINGS — The town of Indian Springs recently moved one step closer to serving its citizens by winning a free website makeover.

Indian Springs has been named a finalist in the CivicPlus 10th Annual Extreme Website Makeover Contest, according to Indian Springs Town Council member Brian Stauss.

The contest, which is geared toward municipal or county organizations throughout North America, will have 13 grand prize winners.

Every grand prize winner will win a free website makeover, as well as free customer support, web hosting and training for two years.

Stauss said CivicPlus contacted Indian Springs leadership after the company saw the town’s website.

“They saw that ours could use a little help,” Stauss said. “(Updating the website) is a project that’s long been on the board for us. We planned it for our 2013 fiscal budget, but coincidentally, not long after the budget was approved, we were contacted by them for the makeover.”

Stauss and other Indian Springs leaders will go through a phone interview with CivicPlus during the week of Jan. 7-11. Soon after the interviews, the grand prize winners will be announced.

Stauss said the current website is “probably eight or nine years old,” and was originally an Eagle Scout project created by a Boy Scout from Oak Mountain High School.

“It needs to be freshened up with a more modern and dynamic interface,” Stauss said. “It looks really dated.”

Stauss said he does not know how many other finalists there are for the contest.
