Man arrested, charged with attempted murder after shooting

PEA RIDGE — A McCalla man has been charged with attempted murder after a Pea Ridge shooting left a male victim recovering in a local hospital.

Adam Blake Dodson, 33, of McCalla has been charged with the crime.

At approximately 9:16 p.m. on Jan. 6, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a person shot just west of Shelby County 10 in the Pea Ridge community in an area known as the “slab.”

The victim was driven to Montevallo by a witness, according to a sheriff’s office press release.

Shelby County sheriff’s deputies, the University of Montevallo police and the Montevallo police and fire departments all responded to the scene. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, and is expected to survive his injuries, according to the release.

Sheriff’s deputies later located a person matching the description of the suspect in the area where the shooting occurred. After an on-scene investigation, deputies arrested Dodson and charged him with attempted murder.

He was transported without incident to the Shelby County Jail, where he is being held on $50,000 bond.

The victim has not been identified.
