FROM STAFF REPORTS

Helena is looking for companies interested in producing a monthly city newsletter, and will accept bids for the project through Jan. 22, council members announced during a Jan. 7 meeting.

During the meeting, the city issued a request for proposals for those interested in producing the newsletter, which is mailed monthly to every Helena household.

According to bid specifications, bidders must be able to provide design, layout, editorial content, printing and sorting for the monthly publication at no cost to the city. Fifty-five percent of the newsletter must contain city-related news and 45 percent can be set aside for ads.

The producer of the city newsletter keeps the advertising revenue generated by each issue “as sole compensation for the design, layout and editorial content and printing of the newsletter,” according to the bid requirements.

The city will cover the cost of mailing newsletters out to about 9,000 homes per month, and the newsletter producer must provide a digital copy and 250 printed copies directly to the city.
