Pelham officials are looking to fill vacancies on several municipal boards, and will be accepting resumés for the positions until Feb. 1.

The city currently has “quite a few vacancies” on its city boards and committees, and is looking to collect as many resumés and letters of interest as possible from those interested in filling the vacancies, said Pelham City Council President Rick Hayes.

“The boards were not very active over the last four years,” Hayes said. “We really want to get citizens more involved in the city.”

The city’s boards include the Zoning Board of Adjustments, the Zoning Board of Adjustments and Appeals, the Beautification Board, the Industrial Board, the Library Board, the Parks and Recreation Board, the Personnel Board and the Planning Commission.

Those interested in serving on the boards should email a resumé and a letter of interest to pholly@pelhamonline.com or mail it to Pelham City Hall, Attention Paula Holly, P.O. Box 1419, Pelham, Ala., 35124. Applicants must be Pelham residents and, if chosen to serve, must be able to attend the meetings they apply for.

Currently, not all of the city’s boards have vacancies, according to the Pelham city website.

After collecting resumés through Feb. 1, Holly will forward applicants’ information to the Mayor Gary Waters and City Council members, who will review the information before voting to appoint members.

Hayes said the council could vote to fill the vacancies during its Feb. 18 or March 4 meetings, and said applicants will be asked to attend the meeting.
