Some Shelby County schools close early due to inclement weather

Some Shelby County schools plan to close early because of inclement weather.

All Jefferson State Community College locations will be closing at 2:30 p.m. today, according to the school’s website.

The JSCC locations are closing due to weather precautions, the website stated.

Indian Springs School will also close early due to inclement weather. The school will close at 12:40 p.m. today. According to the ISS website, students could be picked up as early as 11:25 p.m., and choir students can be picked up at 12:30 p.m.

ISS buses will leave campus at 12:40 p.m., and there will be no extracurricular activities, the website stated. The school will post the campus’ reopening on the Indiansprings.org website.

As of noon, Shelby County Schools have no intention of closing early, according to spokesperson Cindy Warner.

Hoover City Schools Superintendent Andy Craig was discussing school closings with Hoover administrators about 12:15 p.m., according to a receptionist.

Hilltop Montessori School in Mt Laurel closed at 2 p.m.

As for the University of Montevallo, at noon, the university’s leadership was discussing the possibility of closing the school, and will inform the public in a future update, according to Public Relations Director James Bessette.
