DALLAS, Tex. – University of Montevallo Athletic Director Jim Herlihy has been selected to serve on the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II Management Council following an announcement at the annual NCAA Convention.

The Management Council is a governance group whose composition is based on conference representation and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of NCAA Division II.

The Management Council considers legislation passed by cabinets and committees, consisting of various representatives of its member institutions, before making suggestions to the Board of Directors, which consists of school presidents, for final approval.

Management Council duties include implementing policies adopted by the Association’s Executive Committee and the Division II Presidents Council, making recommendations to the Division II President’s Council on matters it deems appropriate, making interpretations of the bylaws of Division II and organizing and participating in an annual summit with the Division II Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Herlihy is in his sixth year as the Director of Athletics at the University of Montevallo. He was hired as the eighth full-time athletic director at the University in December of 2007.

An active committee member within the Peach Belt Conference and NCAA, Herlihy is also a member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, serving on the Board of Directors for the D2 Athletic Directors Association, and is a member of both the Collegiate Business Management Association (CABMA) and the Collegiate Event & Facility Management Association (CEFMA).
