Nolan Lester Hardin

Montevallo

Nolan Lester Hardin, age 78, of Montevallo, and a native of Eclectic, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 26, 2013. He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Mitchell Hardin; and father, William Lester Hardin.

He is survived by his wife, Margie Woodall Hardin; children, Gregory Nolan Hardin (Jan) of Autaugaville, Susan Hardin Gamble (Page) of Vestavia and John Woodall Hardin (Tanya) of Madison; and grandchildren, Dr. Kimberly Hardin Mitchell (Rob), Melinda Hardin Riddle (Mark), Mary Jackson Hardin, Forrest Nolan Gamble, Wynn Woodall Gamble, Kathryn Annise Hardin and Sarah Loraine Hardin.

He graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor’s of science in electrical engineering with high honor. He was a Distinguished AFROTC Cadet, First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and a captain in the reserves. He served in the U.S. Air Force

Academy Construction Agency at Colorado Springs, Colo. He retired from Alabama Power Company as the Montevallo District Manager with 37 years of service and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Montevallo. He was extremely active in and held various leadership positions in the churches and communities where he lived (Montgomery, Selma, Auburn, Prattville and Montevallo). His most valued achievement was his family.

Services will be held on Jan. 29 at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Montevallo with burial immediately following at the Alabama National Cemetery with Pastor Brian Wyatt, Pastor Buddy Freeman and Reverend Robert Thornton officiating. Visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Montevallo on Jan. 28 from 6-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to the First United Methodist Church of Montevallo or the Chrohn’s and Colitis Foundation.
