The Hope Christian Lady Eagles’ defense held county-rival Evangel Christian Lightning to a record low shooting performance in a 25-17 Lady Eagles’ win Jan. 28 at Samford University.

Hope Christian (12-4, 5-1 in ACSC) held the Lightning (9-7) to a 12 percent field goal percentage, the lowest single game total in Evangel’s history.

The Lady Eagles trailed 5-3 after the first quarter, but scored a game-high 13 points in the second for a 16-11 lead. Hope Christian held the Lightning to six points in the second half.

Christina Jones led all scorers with 12 points for Hope Christian.

Anna Bryers led Evangel with 10 points and 13 rebounds in a double-double performance.
