Greater Shelby Chamber of Commerce leaders gave about 200 attendees an update on the past year on Jan. 30, and said they soon may have some good news to share about the chamber’s Shelby One campaign.

During the chamber’s annual meeting, which was held at the Pelham Civic Complex, Shelby One campaign chairman Paul Rogers said the Chamber has received five-year donation pledges from more than 50 businesses and cities to support the campaign.

Rogers said the Chamber has not yet received the total Shelby One fundraising numbers for 2012, but said he plans to give an update during the GSCC’s Feb. 26 luncheon.

“If you like to reach goals, I think you will like what we have to talk about on February 26^th,” Rogers said.

Shelby One is the Chamber’s five-year strategic plan, and is aimed at supporting existing small and retail businesses, working with elected officials, business and industry leaders and college and university officials, working with local governments and marketing Shelby County. Rogers previously said the chamber is looking to raise $1.7 million to support Shelby One.

Also during the annual meeting, David Nolen announced he was elected to serve as the Chamber’s chairman for a second straight year, and announced the Chamber’s 2013 officers and board of directors.

Officers for 2013 are Nolen, Chair-elect Bill Keller, immediate past Chairperson Terri Williams, and vice chairs April Weaver, Keith Barfield, Phillip Heard, John Browning and Tim Prince.

The Chamber’s 2013 Board of Directors is composed of Vivian Johnson, Keith Brown, Linda Cencula, Lisa McMahon, Tim Bowen, Richard Olive, Paul Rogers, David Platt, James Purvis, Joe Sullivan, Tim Benefield, Clint Umphrey and Charlie Stevens.
