Falcons fourth after first round of Ann Rhodes Invitational

BIRMINGHAM – The University of Montevallo women’s golf team is currently fourth in team standings after carding a score of 334 strokes in the opening round of the Birmingham-Southern College Ann Rhodes Invitational at the Robert Trent Jones course at Oxmoor Valley.

The Falcons are 34 strokes behind tournament leader Indiana State University.

Sophomore Ashlee Beck led Montevallo with a 9-over par 81 in the first round, which places her in a tie 11th overall in individual standings.

Freshman Morgan Natale carded a 11-over par 83 and is currently in a tie for 17th overall. Juniors Hilary Shaner and Kira Chaudhry each posted a 13-over par 85 in the opening round, which places the duo in a tie for 21st overall in individual standings.

Senior Kayla Witt rounded out the group of Montevallo golfers with a 26-over par 98, which places her in a tie for 40th in individual standings.

The Falcons close out the two-day tournament with the final round Monday, Feb. 18.
