Alabaster will give away trees to the first 160 visitors to Veterans Park on Feb. 23 during the city’s annual Arbor Day celebration.

Arbor Day registration will begin at 8 a.m., and free tree distribution will begin at 9 a.m. at the Veterans Park maintenance shop on the northern end of the park. Tree distribution will run through noon, or until the tree supply is depleted, according to the Alabaster Parks and Recreation Department.

During a Feb. 18 meeting, Alabaster Mayor Marty Handlon and City Council members invited all Alabaster residents and business owners to the event, and said trees such as dynamite crape myrtle, jane magnolia, brandywine maple, Florida flame maple and red maple trees will be available during the event.
