TUSCALOOSA —  After a 4-3 victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks this past Sunday, the Alabama Men’s Hockey Team has officially clinched a spot in the National Tournament March 12-16th.   But before the Frozen Tide heads off to Missouri, they will participate in the SEC tournament this weekend in Huntsville, Ala.

The tournament will be held at the Benton H. Wilcoxon Municipal Ice Complex from Feb. 22-24.  The Tide will open up Friday night at 7:00 vs the Georgia Ice Dogs.  If the Tide wins, they will play the following night, Saturday, at 8:50 against the winner of the Auburn/ South Carolina game.  The SEC Champions will be crowned following the Sunday game at 2:30PM.

This past weekend in Columbia, SC, the Frozen Tide defeated the South Carolina Game Cocks 4-3 with a goal in overtime by Kenny Jannsen.  Sunday, the Tide beat rival Arkansas in order to claim a spot in the national tournament.

“The coaching staff is extremely proud of our team,” Coach Mike Quenneville said.

“We play for a school with a championship tradition, and we believe our team has the potential to carry on that tradition.  This weekend will be great preparation for Nationals in March.”
