Chelsea takes second in pool play

The Chelsea Hornets softball team split their two games to take second in pool play at the Spain Park Jaguar Classic March 1.

Chelsea defeated Bob Jones 8-7 while completing a rally in the bottom half of the final inning.

The Hornets were held in check in their second pool play game against McAdory in a 3-2 loss. McAdory took a 3-0 lead in the second before Chelsea scored in the fourth.

Alex Smithson led off the Chelsea fourth with a double and stole third before scoring on a McAdory error to cut the deficit to 3-1. JoJo Johnson led off the fifth with a triple down the first baseline and was brought home on a McKenzie Bryant sacrifice fly for the 3-2 final score.

Smithson and Johnson each finished 1-for-3 with a run scored. Alexis Eisenberg took the loss for Chelsea pitching an inning and two-thirds while allowing three runs on five hits.
