Chelsea drops two games at Mortimer Jordan

The Chelsea Hornets baseball team fell to Corner and Mortimer Jordan in a doubleheader March 2 at Mortimer Jordan High School.

The Hornets lost to Corner 4-2 to in their first game of the day. Corner took an early 3-0 lead before Chelsea got on the board with a run in the third and another in the fourth to cut the deficit to 3-2. Corner sealed the 4-2 win with a run in the fifth. Austin Chadwick led the Hornet offense with a 2-for-4 effort with a run scored. Davis Shoemaker had the only Chelsea RBI while batting 1-for-3.

The Hornets suffered a 8-7 heartbreaking loss to Mortimer Jordan in extra innings in their final game.

Chelsea trailed 6-2 until they took the lead in the top of the fifth by scoring five runs. Mortimer quickly evened the game in the bottom half of the fifth, and then scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth for the 8-7 victory.

Shoemaker led Chelsea batting 2-for-5 with a double and a RBI. Austin McClelland added a 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
