Thompson holds off Hillcrest

The Thompson Warriors fought off a seventh inning rally by Hillcrest to take a 4-2 victory March 5 at home.

The Warriors (11-2) trailed 1-0 early, but answered with a run in the second and two runs in the third to take a 3-1 lead. Thompson added a run in the fifth to hold a 4-1 advantage before Hillcrest struck for a run in the top of the seventh.

Houston Davenport led the Warriors batting 2-for-3 with a triple, double and two runs scored. Joseph Simonetti finished 2-for-3 with a double and a RBI.

Mason Macdougall pitched six innings for the win while allowing a run on one hit with six strikeouts and five walks. Jackson Cofer picked up the save with an inning of work and allowed a run on two hits with two strikeouts.
